IT Support for Law Firms in Auckland
Your conveyancing team has four settlements booked before 4pm. The funds are ready and the documents are signed. Then the internet drops, Landonline won't load and the phones start ringing with anxious buyers.
Mint provides IT support for Auckland law firms. We keep your practice online through settlement day, give your lawyers safe access to files from home or court, and lock down Microsoft 365 so confidential client information stays where it belongs.

The days your tech can't let you down
So leave the tech to us. We watch your systems 24/7, fix problems before they reach your desk, and pick up the phone when you need a person.
Settlement day, and the fibre's gone
A delayed settlement costs more than an apology. It can mean penalty interest, an unhappy vendor and a client who won't be back.
We add backup 4G/5G internet that kicks in on its own when your fibre fails. Your team stays logged in to Landonline, your banking portal and LEAP or Actionstep. Most of the time, nobody even notices the switch.
A partner working from home, court or the bach
Your lawyers don't only work at their desks. They're drafting at the kitchen table, checking a file outside a courtroom or answering a client from the airport.
Remote access shouldn't mean a clunky VPN or files emailed to a personal Gmail. We set up managed laptops that connect safely from anywhere. If a laptop goes missing, we can lock and wipe it from here.
One clicked email, one redirected trust payment
Law firms are a favourite target for scammers. They know you move large sums through trust accounts. One convincing email, one stolen password, and someone's sending fake bank details to your client.
We switch on multi-factor authentication (MFA) for everyone. That's the code your phone asks for when you log in, and it stops most stolen passwords cold. We add Conditional Access too. It checks who's signing in, from where and on what device, before it lets anyone near your mailbox.
Every staff member can open every file
In plenty of practices, the shared drive is wide open. A new receptionist can browse a high-profile family law matter. A departing solicitor can download the lot on their last day.
We set up access by role and by matter. People see what they need for their work, and nothing else. When someone leaves, we switch off their access the same day.
Your duty of confidence, backed by the right tech
Confidentiality sits at the heart of legal practice. Your tech should make it easier to keep, not harder.
- Lawyers and Conveyancers Act (Lawyers: Conduct and Client Care) Rules 2008. These rules require you to protect client information and keep it confidential. We put the tech controls in place that help you do that, including encrypted devices, tight access controls and records of who opened what.
- Privacy Act 2020. This law sets out how New Zealand businesses collect, store and protect personal information. It also requires you to report serious breaches. We help prevent them, and we'll help you work out what happened if something goes wrong.
- Backups we've actually tested. Client files, emails and matter records all get backed up. We check we can restore them, so a ransomware attack doesn't become a lost archive.
You're the lawyers. We won't give legal advice. We just make the tech side easy to get right.
More than half of New Zealand small businesses dealt with a cyber threat in the last six months, according to NCSC research. For firms with 20 to 49 staff, it's three in four. A few solid basics stop most of it.
What changed for one Auckland practice
A practice manager at an Auckland law firm came to us with slow internet and a cloud move that had stalled halfway through. Files lived in two places, and staff weren't sure which version was current.
Within two weeks of coming on board, we'd fixed the internet and finished the move. One set of files, in one place, that everyone could reach.
We keep our clients anonymous. Their IT is their business.
The software your practice runs on
We know the systems law firms use every day, including:
- LEAP and Actionstep for practice management
- Landonline for e-dealing and settlements
- Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Teams and SharePoint
- Adobe Acrobat for document signing and review
- Xero and MYOB for accounts
Using something we haven't listed? Let us know. We'll learn it and look after it.
In their words
Our previous provider couldn't fix our issues. Files weren't saving, internet was slow and the cloud migration hadn't worked. Mint solved these issues for us within 2 weeks of coming onboard.
How we support the practice day to day
Questions practice managers ask us
Do you support LEAP and Actionstep?
Yes. We look after the computers, networks and Microsoft 365 setups that LEAP and Actionstep run on. We'll also work with their support teams when a problem sits on their side.
Can you help us move from an office server to the cloud?
Yes. We'll plan the move around your workload, so nothing shifts during a busy settlement week. Your team keeps working while we move the files across.
Will you advise us on our professional obligations?
No. We're not lawyers, so we leave the rules to you and your compliance partner. We handle the tech controls that help you meet them.
What happens if a lawyer's laptop is stolen?
We lock it and wipe it remotely, often within minutes of your call. Because we encrypt every managed laptop, the thief can't read the files on it.
How fast do you respond when something breaks?
Our average response on critical issues is around 15 minutes. Our helpdesk runs 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, and we monitor your systems around the clock.
Do we have to sign a long-term contract?
No. Every plan runs month-to-month with one calendar month's notice.
What does the free IT health check involve?
It's a 45-minute look at your internet, devices, email security and backups. You'll get a plain-English summary of what's solid and what needs attention.
