IT Support for Healthcare & Allied Health in Auckland
Room 3's patient has been waiting twelve minutes. The GP sits down to open their notes, and the screen's still logged in as the nurse. She's next door, mid-dressing, with gloves on.
Mint looks after IT, internet and phones for Auckland GP practices, medical centres and allied health clinics like physio, dental and podiatry. We keep your practice management system online, make shared computers quick to switch between, and protect patient information in line with the Health Information Privacy Code 2020.

When the clinic can't afford to wait
Your team should spend the day on patients, not passwords. We handle the tech. We watch your systems 24/7, spot and fix many issues before they disrupt the day, and answer the phone when you need a person.
Indici won't load, and the waiting room's filling up
Cloud systems are great until the internet drops. Then reception can't see the day's bookings, the GP can't open notes and prescriptions stall. Patients start checking their watches.
That's our job to prevent. We add backup 4G/5G internet that switches on by itself when your fibre fails. If you still run Medtech on a server in the back room, we monitor it around the clock and fix warning signs before they turn into a dead Monday morning.
Three people, one front desk computer
Clinics share computers all day. Reception, nurses and doctors hop on and off the same screen between patients. So people stay logged in as someone else, or everyone shares one login to save time.
Both are a problem. A shared login means you can't tell who opened which record. We set up shared computers so each person signs in as themselves in a few seconds. Screens lock on their own when nobody's using them. Fast for your team, and every record stays tied to the right name.
An email from "Health New Zealand" that isn't
It looks official. A lab result, a funding update, a document to sign. One staff member clicks, types their password, and a stranger now has access to your inbox and everything linked to it.
We switch on multi-factor authentication (MFA) for your whole team. It's the code your phone asks for when you sign in. Even with a stolen password, nobody gets in without it. We also filter dodgy emails before they land, so fewer of them reach your staff at all.
The laptop that went home with the locum
Locums, part-timers and contractors come and go. Some take a clinic laptop home. Some leave with logins nobody switches off.
We encrypt every device we manage, so a lost laptop is useless to whoever finds it. We can lock and wipe it remotely. When someone finishes up, we turn off their access that same day.
The Health Information Privacy Code, in plain English
The Health Information Privacy Code 2020 sets the rules for how New Zealand health providers collect, store, use and share patient information. The Privacy Act 2020 also means you have to report serious privacy breaches.
Your privacy officer owns the policies. Our role is the technical side that makes them workable day to day:
- Only the right people see the right records. We set access by role, so reception sees bookings and clinicians see notes.
- You can see who looked at what. Individual logins mean every record opened has a name against it.
- Lost devices don't leak data. We encrypt laptops and phones, and we can wipe them from our office.
- Backups we've actually tested. We back up your files and emails, then check we can bring them back. A ransomware attack shouldn't cost you years of records.
NCSC research found that 53% of New Zealand SMEs faced a cyber threat in the last six months. Among businesses with 20 to 49 staff, it was 76%. That's a lot of clinics in the firing line. The good news is that a handful of well-run basics block most of it.
Locums and short-term staff are a common gap. A login that stays active after someone leaves can be used long after they've gone, and nobody notices until something looks wrong. We set up same-day offboarding, so when anyone finishes up, whether locum, part-timer or full staff, their access is off before the end of that day.
What we usually find when we visit a clinic
Most clinics come to us after something breaks. But when we do a health check first, we tend to find the same things before they become a problem.
The shared front desk computer is still logged in as whoever opened up that morning. The backup internet either doesn't exist or hasn't been tested since it was installed. The locum from six months ago still has an active login. And the practice management system is running on a server in a back room that nobody's touched since it was set up.
None of these are unusual. Most clinics have at least two of them. A 45-minute health check is usually enough to find them all and tell you what needs fixing first.
When the clinic needs help fast
When something breaks mid-clinic, you need it sorted fast. Our average response on critical issues is around 15 minutes. We fix 98.2% of issues the first time you contact us.
Managed IT plans start from $79 + GST per user per month for licensing and security, $139 with remote support, and $189 for fully managed IT with onsite support included. Every plan includes 24/7 monitoring. There are no lock-in contracts, just one calendar month's notice if you ever want to leave.
Clinical and practice software we support
We look after the computers, networks and logins your clinical software runs on, including:
- Medtech, whether you're on a local server or in the cloud
- Indici for general practice
- Cliniko for physio, chiro and other allied health clinics
- Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Teams and SharePoint
- Xero and MYOB for your accounts
If a problem sits with the software vendor, we'll deal with their support team for you. Running something we haven't listed? Let us know. We'll learn it.

Common questions from clinics
Do you work with Medtech, Indici and Cliniko?
Yes. We support the devices, network and logins these systems depend on. When the issue sits inside the software itself, we work directly with the vendor's support team.
Can you help us meet our obligations under the Health Information Privacy Code?
Not on our own, and nobody honest would claim to. Compliance covers your policies and processes too. We put the technical controls in place (access by role, encryption and tested backups), so your obligations are much easier to meet.
How quickly can staff swap users on a shared computer?
Usually in a few seconds. We set it up so each person signs in as themselves without closing everyone else's work.
What happens to appointments if our internet goes down?
With backup internet, they carry on. Your connection switches to 4G/5G automatically, usually within seconds, and switches back once your fibre returns.
We're a small physio clinic. Is this worth it for us?
Often, yes. You pay per user, so a three-person clinic pays for three people. Our IT cost calculator gives you a price in a couple of minutes.
What should we do if a staff member clicks a phishing link?
Call us straight away on 09 222 0220. We'll lock the account, reset the password and check what the attacker could reach. The faster we know, the less damage they can do.
Are we locked into a contract?
No. Every plan runs month-to-month with one calendar month's notice.
What happens in the free IT health check?
We spend 45 minutes reviewing your internet, devices, logins, email security and backups. You'll get a plain-English rundown of what's working and what needs attention.
